Sweet Strawberry

Hi everyone, I’ve got a very quick card to share today that I created using a simple layout that I love.

A group I belong to recently challenged us to create a card using this sketch. I think it’s a great layout and I couldn’t wait to make a card.

I started with a layer of poppy parade embossed with the subtle folder and then added a piece of DSP from a pack called Simply Elegant which is in the new 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue. You can shop from this catalogue in a weeks time – so exciting!

The focal piece was created by stamping images from Sweet Strawberry in Poppy Parade, Granny Apple Green and Balmy Blue.

Making embellishments with the Sweet Strawberry stamp set and coordinating punch are so quick! For all the images I picked a colour and stamped the border image in full strength and filled it in with the same colour stamped off once. My tip for this set is to stamp the border image first then the filled in image – I find it easier to align.

Because the punch contains a number of the images, I create a template by punching a scrap of card, then use this to do my stamping (shown above – not the best pic I know but you get the idea). I stamp all the images and then punch them out together. I also like to do quite a few in one session so I can keep the excess strawberries in my stash to use later on.

Sketch challenges are a fun way to craft – it takes half the thinking out of it – and if you’re in a rut it’s the perfect way to get creative again.

Enjoy the rest of your week – and roll on the weekend!
