Paper Adventures Team Hop Sketch Challenge

Hi Everyone, and welcome to tonight’s Paper Adventures Blog Hop, and welcome back to my blog! If you are a regular you would have noticed a bit of a break in posting. Whilst I have been busy creating, the posting side of things took a bit of a winter break. It’s been a very long wet winter here in Perth (well – wet by our standards), but if my garden tells me anything – it’s that Spring is here. My bulbs have started blooming and we are starting to spend more time outside enjoying the sunshine.

Back to why you are here – card making! Narelle has challenged us with an amazing Sketch this month. I love a sketch challenge – it’s probably my favourite type. This layout is so versatile, but also really straightforward for making lots of cards quickly. Think batch making Christmas Cards (did you realise it’s less than 100 days until Christmas??)

I actually made 3 cards using this layout, one Christmas card and two birthday cards for my stash. The Christmas cards uses DSP from Heartwarming Hugs (a returning favourite pack from last year), teamed with the Bark 3D embossing folder. This folder is great for just adding a bit of texture to your card. The image and sentiment comes from a new bundle in the July-December mini catalogue called Words of Cheer. This bundle has got some really cool word dies (which I haven’t used tonight) but you will see in plenty of projects to come.

The next two cards both use the same stamp set and dies, just different colours. The stamp set is called Pirates and Mermaids and is one of my favourites. I use the imagery on so many cards – they are easy to colour and are just very cute! Both have a decorative piece behind the image cut out using the Encircled in Beauty dies from the Annual Catalogue. I missed these dies originally – I only noticed them when I saw them being used in the July-December mini catalogue as they also coordinate with a new stamp set in there (called Encircled in Warmth). These pieces remind me of the gold foil snowflake doilies we had a few years back. I loved these and used them on everything – so I could not resist these dies.

On the mermaid card I have cut out the decorative piece using Sale-A-Bration freebie paper Be Dazzling. This paper is like a disco ball for your papercraft. I love it..and I have a stack of it already! The pirate card uses Black Glitter paper (from the July-December Mini catalogue)

Which is your favourite card? I can’t decide…but I think I am leaning towards the mermaid. I just can’t get enough of the dazzling paper!

Thanks for stopping by tonight, and please click below to keep on hopping around to see what everyone else has created.

  1. Oh I love these ideas a and what you have used. I often struggle for ideas and honesty never really stick to a sketch. I think it maybe something I will have to consider when making bulk cards. Beautiful creations!
