Have a Stellar Birthday

Wooohooo! It’s almost the weekend! We made it – another busy week done and dusted 🙂

I’ve got another card to share with you today, I can’t stop playing with my new stash! this time I am featuring the Stellar Birthday set. I had already coloured some of these images as you might have seen in my previous post so this one came together quite quickly.

Something that I do a lot when I am colouring images, is I leave the stamps on the stamparatus long after I have finished stamping (check the picture below). What this allows me to do is go back and re-stamp the images once I have finished colouring. Sometimes the black lines have dulled a bit as I have coloured over them so sharpening them up really makes the images pop. In the case of these images I actually re-stamped them in Versamark ink and heat embossed them with clear powder. This really does make them look extra special, and if you haven’t tried it you should.

For the background of this card, I was going for a galaxy background and I used a technique that I shared recently involving blends, vellum and alcohol, you can check it out here. I used darker colours like Night of Navy, Misty Moonlight, Rich Razzleberry and Blackberry Bliss, plus a small amount of Bermuda Bay. For the moon I embossed a piece of Basic Gray cardstock with the (retired) Stone embossing folder. I love this stone folder and I use it a lot, it makes for an interesting background piece, but also great for elements on Dinosaur cards (which I make a lot of!).

I finished it off by adding some white stars using a gel pen and that was it! If you are keen to know the colours I coloured with I will list them below.

  • Space Girl: Light/Dark Gray Granite, Dark Seaside Spray, Light Night of Navy, Poppy Parade & Pumpkin Pie.
  • Space Boy: Light/Dark Smoky Slate, Dark Seaside Spray, Light Night of Navy, Poppy Parade & Pumpkin Pie.
  • Rocket: Light/Dark Old Olive, Light Poppy Parade, Dark Pumpkin Pie, Dark Daffodil Delight
  • Space Dog: Bronze, Light/Dark Crumb Cake, Poppy Parade, Dark Smoky Slate

Hope you all have a great weekend, and manage to sneak in some crafty time!
