Paper Adventures Team Hop – Weather

Paper Adventures - Blog Hop Header

Welcome to Friday – the end of another working week! I am thrilled tonight to be hopping with the Paper Adventures team, and the theme tonight is Weather. First up a big welcome to our guest designer Leonie Stuart, we are so lucky to have her onboard this month!

My card tonight is inspired by the beautiful Cape Naturaliste in the South West of Western Australia. We took a trip down south not that long ago (the first long weekend after the regional borders re-opened in fact!) and the weather was wet and wild, but we loved it. There’s something about having a fire going inside while you listed to the rain and wind outside that instantly relaxes me. I can curl up, read a book, play some cards, play a board game…all those things that ‘slow you down’.

I tried to capture the sky in my sponged background, combining blues and purples to give a real stormy look. The lighthouse is of course the Cape Naturaliste lighthouse (did you know that there is a hiking trail that takes you from the lighthouse at Cape Naturaliste all the way to the Cape Leeuwin lighthouse, about 125kms – we hope to hike that next year sometime).

I have used a few stamps sets including Waterfront, Sailing Home and High Tide; as well as some sponges for ink blending and a blender pen. The sentiment comes from the stamp set Under My Umbrella.

I hope you have enjoyed this card, I recently shared a video showing how I sponge backgrounds on my facebook page, if you have never done it before – check it out. It’s very easy to do and with light hands its very forgiving.

Next up tonight is the wonderfully talented Kelly Kent. Click below to visit her blog and then keep on hopping until you are back to where you started.
