Unicorns Painted with Love

So many times have I picked up the Painted with Love DSP and not been able to cut into it – this paper is that beautiful. The paper is two sided, with one side riddled with shimmering foil, and the other being mat. Tonight was the night to cut into it, and what better to go with it than a shimmering unicorn.

Tonight’s card is inspired by a couple of design challenges. This week’s CASEing the Catty challenge is all about the Painted with Love suite of products. When CASEing you can be inspired by anything, including layout, colours, embellishments etc. I have obviously been inspired by the DSP in this suite, I love the colours and of course anything shimmery like the gold foil. The layout of the card comes from this week’s Just Add Ink, it was something a little bit different to what I could normally do so a nice change. Finally, Inspire.Create.Challenges #012 had a code word of ‘animals’ so I decided to use a Unicorn as the focal point.

I started with a whisper white card card base, then added a later of melon mambo card, followed by a layer of the Painted With Love DSP. I then cut a smaller rectangle of Pink Pirouette card and rounded the corners using the envelope punch board.

I stamped some small background stars on the piece of pink pirouette, I had planned to stamp in Pink Pirouette but this was too light, so instead I used Flirty Flamingo. On a scrap of whisper white I stamped the unicorn from the Magical Day stamp set in tuxedo black momento ink, and then coloured in the unicorn using my Stampin’ Blends. The colours I used were Light and Dark Rich Razzleberry and Light Smoky Slate.  I finished the unicorn by covering it in wink or stella, before fussy cutting it out.

The clouds were cut from the glimmer paper that is part of the Myths and Magic suite of products. I don’t have a cloud stamp, die or punch, so instead I just free hand drew some clouds on the back of the glimmer paper and cut them out. Not perfect…but it did the job.

Finally I heat embossed in gold the Happy Birthday sentiment onto melon mambo card. And that’s it – card complete! I have a little person in mind who I think would love this card, I mean it has gold foil, glimmer paper, unicorns and it’s pink – who would love this!
