An Unexpected Gift

Without warning a friend of mine recently dropped two paper stacks in the letter box for me. They were gorgeous Japanese papers, one set was patterned with stripes and spots, and the other paper pack was all food related – macarons, nuts, biscuits – really gorgeous prints.

I’m not sure what I will use them on yet, but I sat down today to make a thank you card for her. It was a very sweet – and out of the blue – gesture. In the past she has mentioned she liked my sponged scenic cards and since I was yet to use my sponges this year, it was a good chance to get them out.

Not a very complicated card, but made with love 🙂 It’s quite similar to others I have done which you can see here and here.

The birds and small shrubs are from the High Tide stamp set and the taller trees are from Colourful Seasons.  They are all stamped in Early Espresso – I would normally use black but I felt like trying out something new.

I used lots of colours in the sky – Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, Watermelon Wonder, Sweet Sugarplum, Fresh Fig, Peekaboo Peach and Pumpkin Pie. The water is Tempting Turquoise with Pacific Point highlights (the water ripples are also from the High Tide stamp set). There is also a bit of crumb cake for the beach.
