Wildly Happy!

A sketch challenge tonight, courtesy of CAS Colours and Sketches – an interesting one as in addition to matching the sketch it must still be ‘CAS’ – Clean and Simple.

The sketch we had to play with looked like this:

sketch 242

I decided to use a stamp set that I was yet to ink up, I played around with it a bit colouring it, stamping it in different colours etc, but in the end I opted for sponging a bit of background colour, and then stamping in basic black over the top.

I actually really like how it came out – simple but still cute. I’m not sure the photo does it justice as the sponged colour is just lightly done, but I’m happy with it all the same.

This was actually take 2 of this card – take one was getting the finishing touches (the small animal prints near the sentiment) when my stamping block got a bit of extra ink on it which then got transferred to the card. Normally I would place some embellishment over a smudge, or place the sentiment there – but this was a clean and simple card – so no embellishments plus the sentiment needed to be roughly centred as per the sketch. Take note, the smaller the stamp (particularly on a bigger than needed block) the lighter the touch!

What do you think?
