CASEing the Catty 145 – Merry Little Christmas

The CASEing the Catty Facebook challenge this week is centred around the Holiday Catalogue, pages 10-19, which focuses heavily on the Merry Little Christmas DSP.

This DSP is so versatile, the colour scheme is Old Olive, Black and White – so not your traditional colours but very on trend. The paper is two sided and one side is christmas themed, while the other could be used for many different occasions.

The card I used for inspiration this week is shown on page 10, the bottom left hand corner.

I didn’t have any Old Olive stock so I decided to use the layout as a guide and use what I did have. The base card is basic black, and the black & white snowflake DSP is from the Merry Little Christmas DSP series – how gorgeous is it!. The stamp set Carols of Christmas was used for the sentiment and the small flower (fussy cut out). The sentiment was stamped in whisper white craft ink. This was the first time I had stamped in this ink (I have previously only applied it using daubers, see here). It was quite hard to get a good impression, and a quick google told me this was common. To get white text I think most people use white embossing powder, but as I am just starting out I don’t have a heat tool yet, so I used what I had an made do.

The red ribbon embellishment is actually just paper, from the paper stack Warmth and Cheer (now retired, another clearance rack bargain!).

I hope you like this week’s entry, leave me a comment if you do 🙂
