I was making a card the other day for a classmate for one of my kids, and I decided on a rainbow unicorn theme. While I was making the rainbow I realised that the brightly coloured rainbow ‘inners’ shouldn’t be wasted and made a couple of other rainbow themed cards while I was there.

For the initial birthday card I created a rainbow by cutting out circles using the layering circle dies in Poppy Parade, Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Pacific Point, Gorgeous Grape and Purple Posy. I stuck all the circles down to make something resembling a rainbow donut, and then sliced it in half leaving me with two rainbows. One for now and one for my stash!
I stamped a cute little unicorn from the Hippo Happiness stamp set, and then cut it and the banner piece (which I first embossed using the subtle folder) out using the Hippo and Friends dies. I layered this onto a Flirty Flamningo base (also embossed using the subtle folder) with a strip of Flirty Flamingo DSP. To finish I added some bakers twine.
I actually made two rainbow donuts (resulting in 4 seperate rainbows) at the same time, however this left with me lots of rainbow ‘inners’ and I didn’t want to waste them.

I remembered seeing a bit of a trend on pinterest a little while back where people were layering circles together, but offsetting them to one side. And I had the perfect stash of circles to give this a try. There are two ways to this – first option is to glue all the circles together and then cut them in half, resulting in the bottom half being like a reflection of the top. The second way to do it is to cut all the circles in half first and then glue them – which enables you to line up the colours any way you want. The first card I made uses this second option – you can see the top and bottom are opposites. The sentiment is from the Happiest of Birthdays stamp set, and I have also used the Tasteful Textile embossing folder.

The second card I made just uses one half of the rainbow circles, and I have teamed it with some cocktails from the Nothing’s Better Than bundle. I have (once again…) used the subtle embossing folder (I swear this folder never leaves my desk!).

I hope you have enjoyed these bright and fun rainbow cards. Don’t forget you still have a few days to make the most of Bonus Days and also the special bundle bonus for the month of July. Check out the promotions page for more details.
