Today’s card is a Halloween card featuring the Toil & Trouble DSP from the Holiday catalogue. Truth be told Halloween is not something I have really celebrated much living in Australia, however as more and more people move here from the northern hemisphere, and also more and more Aussies return after living abroad, it is starting to be celebrated more.
I still don’t really know what to do with Halloween cards – do you mail them before Halloween like you would a christmas card? Do you hand them out to trick or treaters? Maybe someone who celebrates could leave a comment and let me know. In the mean time I had fun creating this card.
I started with a Daffodil Delight card base and added a layer of DSP from the toil and trouble DSP pack. I fussy cut a witch from another sheet of paper in this same pack.
I was a bit stumped on the sentiment as I don’t own any Halloween stamp sets, but then I found ‘Treat Yourself’ in the Picture Perfect Birthday set and I thought it worked well. I stamped on another layer of daffodil delight and also added a banner of gold foil behind this.
For embellishments I used the new Black Glittered Organza ribbon. This ribbon is so cool – definitely not just for halloween. It’s really pretty and would suit a very classy looking black / white themes card as well as anything where a bit of glitter is required. Finally I added some black bats punched with the (also) new Spooky Bats Punch.
Considering it was my first ever halloween card I thought it turned out OK – what do you think? Should I make another?
