Mixing the current, old and new

Tonight I have created a simple card that combines products that are about to retire, products that are carrying over and also some brand new colours. It’s a simple layout that is very adaptable to many scenarios.

For the CASEing the Catty Design challenge this week we are CASEing projects from any card kits in the annual or occasions catalogue. I have chose to CASE the layout of one of the cards in the Perennial Birthday Card Kit shown on page 17 of the Occasions catalogue.

The background DSP for my card is from the soon to be retired Myths and Magic Speciality DSP. This DSP is so pretty and I am really going to miss it. I cut a stitched oval in shimmery white card stock and used the waterfront stamp set as well as my aqua painter to create a scene.

First I added a wash using Grapefruit Grove (brand new colour!) and Tempting Turquoise (retiring colour). I then stamped the land and tree trunks in early espresso (one of my most used neutral colours….thank goodness it is staying on!). The palm trees and houses are both stamped in new colours – Call Me Clover and Lovely Lipstick.

I finished off the scene by adding some highlights to the water in Blueberry Bushell. Blueberry Bushell, Grapefruit Grove, Call Me Clover and Lovely Lipstick are four of the five new In Colours for 2018-2020. The new In-Colours are so bright and fun and I know they are going to be some of the most used colours in my stash. Check out a card set I made featuring all the new In-Colours here.

I finished the card by adding a strip of DSP leftover from the holiday catalogue, a piece of Lemon Lime Twist mini striped ribbon and a small bow tied in Night of Navy bakers twine.

I didn’t add a sentiment as I thought the style of car could lend itself to many occasions, and for both male and female recipients. When it comes time to send it I will stamp what I need on the inside.

Hope you like tonight’s card, there is still plenty of time to play along with the challenge, so head on over and be inspired!
