Be the reason someone smiles today – this was the photo inspiration for this week’s design challenge over at Addicted to Stamps and More. I decided this tied in well with the CASology weekly challenge these of ‘Cherish’, and that one card could be used to enter both challenges.

The card I came up with showcases owls in love – how sweet these two are sitting up there on their branch. A very simple card, but simple sometimes just works.

I combined the colours of Berry Burst and Basic Black. I first experimented with a few different coloured foil circles, but the owls reflected badly in the foil and it just looked a bit washed out instead of shimmery like I was going for. In the end I thought the Berry Burst really popped behind the black owls. I was still able to add a bit of glimmer using the gold foil for a few of the love hearts.

The branch is from the Colorful Seasons stamp set, I just stamped it and fussy cut it out. I really love this set – so versatile! The sentiment is also from this set. The card base is actually soft sky card – I wanted something light in colour but not white – it seemed to work quite well.
