CTC273 – Playing with Patterns DSP

Happy Sunday everyone! And thanks for stopping past this afternoon for this week’s Caseing the Catty Blog Hop. I hope you have all been enjoying the Annual Catalogue, I know I have.

This week we are CASEing the colours in the Playing with Patterns DSP, as shown above. I was umming and aahing about what to do this week, I had been hoping I would have my DSP order by the time this challenge came around but it wasn’t looking likely. How surprised was I when I received a parcel of paper on Friday morning – it had only been posted on Thursday arvo….Wow! If you haven’t seen the DSP in this catalogue in person you are missing out. It is definitely one of my favourite collections, all of the papers are stunning, so different to each other but equally beautiful. But after all that…I didn’t end up using any of my new DSP stash – haha! I am however using two new stamp sets!

Pattern Play Stamp Set
Nothings Better Than Bundle

The Pattern Play stamp set is available in a bundle with the Playful Alphabet dies (that I have used here) – to be honest I almost didn’t buy this stamp set. I wasn’t sure about it – but I got it anyway and I think it’s going to be that set that sneaks into every project. The patterns are perfect for making your own DSP, or for dressing up the insides of cards or the envelopes. For my card I stamped with the stripey stamp on an angle down my card front. I used all the colours in the Pattern Play DSP and just lined it all up as best I could.

The sentiment panel comes from the Nothings Better Than Bundle. This is such a fun stamp set and bundle, and this sentiment sums me up completely. I cannot remember the last day that I didn’t consume coffee….it was definitely pre-kids…probably closer to high school! I cut the word ‘coffee’ out a couple of times in Calypso Coral and stuck them together to give some extra dimension.

I thought this card turned out to be something a bit bright and cheerful. Then it dawned on my I didn’t really know who I would give this to? It’s not really a birthday card….maybe a ‘just because’? My partner suggested it is appropriate for a baby shower card for a first time mum….accompanied with a large bag of coffee as a gift 🙂 What do you think?

This hop really has me excited, these colours are bright and fun – without being too over the top (which I also love….but I know isn’t for everyone!). I’d love to see what you make with them – just get out the colours, start stamping and see what you come up with. Don’t forget to upload a pic to our facebook page so we can all enjoy it.

Next up on tonight’s hop is my lovely friend Michelle, so click below to check out her project and then keep clicking until you get back to where you started!

  1. Love this bundle! You are right about the colours, bright but not over the top. The DSP looks great behind your main panel.

  2. I really love how bright this is, which is totally different to every other card I’ve seen with this bundle so far. It’s for sure on my next order (I legitimately have no idea what a day without coffee would be like) and you’ve inspired me to use it on happy, fun, colourful cards as well, not just coffee coloured neutrals. Definitely appropriate for a new mum!! Gorgeous creation. 🙂 Siobhan.

  3. Love the striped background you have created for your card, Shannon. The colours look fabulous the way you have placed them. I decided not to get that set and I think I will regret it.
