I have been away on holidays with my family for the last couple of weeks – which was a lot of fun and very relaxing. I came home to a mountain of washing to be done, however this was offset by the fact I had a delivery of lots of new products to play with.

After pulling everything out of the box and having a good look, I decided I would pull out the stamp set Flowering Desert to have a play with. This stamp set features cacti (fun fact – cacti is the latin plural of cactus, cactuses is the English plural, and both are now accepted as being correct!) and is standalone, meaning there isn’t accompanying paper or dies.
I was drawn to it immediately as it reminded me of the many cactus plants we saw when we travelled to Bolivia and visited Uyuni, famous for it’s salt flats. Below is one of many photos we took in this area.

The layout of the card comes from this weeks Inspire.Create.Challenges. I have water coloured the circle in the background using Flirty Flamingo and Daffodil Delight. The cactus is stamped in Granny Apple Green, with Melon Mambo flowers. The sentiment is from this same stamp set and is stamped in the main feature colour for this card (and my current favourite colour) Coastal Cabana.

If you are wondering where the idea of putting small corner piece of coloured card comes from…..well – they are a result of an unfortunate incident with an ink pad and my completed card 😦 Never mind though – I still like how it came out…..it’s it’s own kind of beautiful don’t you think?
