CASEing the Catty – Merry Christmouse

It’s been quite a few weeks since I played along with CASEing the Catty, but I found some time to browse the catalogue and put something together. CASEing the Catty #156 is all about CASEing absolutely anything in the Stampin’ Up! 2017-2018 annual catalogue, but giving it a christmas twist.

I thought this would be easy, however your brain sees what it sees and it was harder than I thought to imagine something non-chrimassy as christmas. I picked a card shown on page 20 of the catalogue – shown below.

However – in the catalogue the photo is shown cut off at the bottom, which I didn’t realise until I actually downloaded the catalogue image! So my card is square, not rectangular but it was the layout I was using for inspiration so it still works fine.

I didn’t set out to use non-traditional colours, this is just how I ended up. I used a stamp set that I absolutely love, but it is retired. It is called Merry Mice and it is the cutest!

I stamped the main image in archival black ink on shimmery white cardstock and coloured it with aqua painters, using the colours cherry cobbler, lemon lime twist, crumb cake and sweet sugarplum. This was then double punched using the 2 3/8″ scallop to give a starburst look. The card base is soft sky and is 3.5″ square. I stamped the background mice in soft sky (stamping off onto scrap first).

The sentiment is heat embossed in white on sweet sugarplum card. There is also a scrap of lemon lime twist peeking out behind. The main reason I picked sweet sugarplum for the sentiment was because I did this project the other night and it was sitting on my desk, and I thought the white text on sweet sugarplum looked really pretty.

Once I had stuck everything down I thought it needed something a little more, so I stamped and coloured the mouse one more time and fussy cut it out, and then used dimensionals to stick it over the first image. I thought this gave some extra depth. Lastly I finished with a few glitter enamel dots. There is also a bit of wink of stella on the mouse’s hat.

Hope you like it 🙂
