CASology Challenge – Square

I found another challenge and thought I would give it a go, they are proving a bit of fun and challenging me to produce different things.

CASology is a ‘Clean and Simple’ card design challenge, you can find more details here. This week the code word in ‘Sqaure’

My immediate thought for this cue card was sponging a square using a mask and then stamping a silhouette over the top of it. What I ended up doing was slightly different but pretty close. I made two cards because I thought I would probably mess one up, but in the end I was happy with how they both came out.

I started by sponging some Lemon Lime Twist onto a 2″ x 2″ Whisper White square. I then stamped a silhouette image onto this square, both of the cards above are using images from the (retired) Stampin’ Up! stamp set ‘Silhouette Sentiments’. I matted these squares onto a piece of black card measuring 2 1/8″ x 2 1/8″.

After doing that I thought it needed something else, so given the cue word was square, I added another square mat, this time measuring 2 1/4″ x 2 1/4″. I wanted this to also be in the Lemon Lime Twist colour, but I didn’t have any cardstock. Instead, I used the direct to paper inking technique, where you drag the ink pad directly across the paper. I used a reasonable pressure to get a good solid colour. I used mini dimensional to attach the sentiments to the cards (both sentiments were from the same ‘Silhouette Sentiments’ set), and then regular sized dimensionals to attach my squares to the card base itself. The card base measures 10.5cm x 10.5cm (Do you like how I mix my units when I card make? Sorry!)

I hope you like my entry

  1. Two lovely cards, Shannon! I love the extra matting detail and how your silhouettes pop against the lemon lime color! Thanks for joining us at CASology this week!
