Social Stamping – Change

Hi Everyone, and welcome to the last of the weekly Social Stamping bog hosts. A huge thanks to Kelly Kent for all her work putting this all together for the last few months. It’s been fun! So much fun that when she asked if we would be interested in keeping the blog host going – on a monthly basis – it was a resounding YES!.

The theme of today’s hop is “Change” – and at first I was stumped. However – then I thought of my Dad. Dad has been a Maths teacher since 1972. His career has taken him to Bunbury, Perth, Karratha, Mandurah, Kalgoorlie and finally London. He is, and always has been an enthusiastic teacher, always encouraging students, always invested in their achievements and always happy to have a few jokes along the way. He taught me in 4 out of my 5 years of high school, and I didn’t mind at all having my Dad as the teacher. To this day he is still the best Maths teacher I ever had. And yesterday was his last day in the classroom. Lucky for him he did get to spend it in the classroom and not remotely teaching from home – as has been the case for the best part of this year. It would have been very strange to retire whilst working on a laptop in your own house!

My parents moved to London in 2007 – they actually went for an extended holiday with the option to work if they found something they liked. It’s safe to say they definitely found something they liked as they have been away 12 years! I know they had plans to continue travelling in retirement, and sadly retirement in the near future will not look as they planned. But I am certain they will fill their days with something fun and enjoy the retirement thats been well earned.

I made this retirement card for Dad – I don’t think it has reached him yet…as we all know mail isn’t as snappy as it once was. I also know Dad occasionally reads my blog – so if you are….here’s your card – and Congratulations!

I’ve used a retired (seems fitting right?) set called On To Adventure, and coloured the people using blends. I’ve also used the Coastal Weave embossing folder (also retired) plus a piece of DSP from the new Peony Garden Suite.

Next up tonight is the lovely Sheila, click below to see what project she is sharing with us.

  2. What an interesting journey your parents have had and a very unusual last year! Teachers have had to adapt more than many. Great card to celebrate the start of a new journey:)

  4. Your last quip about using retired product on a retirement card made me smile! Your Dad is going to love his card when it finally arrives (I wonder if it’s quicker than SU boxes east to west??). Thanks for joining in with the Social Stamping Blog Hosts! You’re awesome! Kelly x
