CTC236 – Love, Thanks & Support

Hi everyone and thank you for stopping by this evening. We have another fabulous selection of projects to share with you tonights, all inspired by the Love, Thanks and Support section of the catalogue.

Tonight I am sharing something a bit different to my normal projects, it’s a scrapbook page. I was inspired by the background in the giraffe card shown above (on page 83). I liked how it had been created using die cut pieces of coloured card.

I have used the Stitched Nested Label Dies for my page, as well as a piece of DSP from the Perennial Essence DSP pack. I love this paper so much that in order to not waste too much of it, I cut out the centre piece that wouldn’t be visible anyway. Save as much as you can I say!

Attaching the die cut sheets to printer paper

In order to work out placement of my elements, I actually used some double sided tape to attach the die cut pieces to a piece of plain printer paper, and then cut around the edges. This left me with a single piece (made up of all the die cuts, kind of like a patchwork quilt) that allowed me to move it around my page until I was happy with it.

The photos are of my boys – Lachie is 5 and Ronan is 3. One of the pics also feature our beautiful dog Jessa. Jessa has just turned 1, and we adopted her at about 10 weeks old from a refuge.

I didn’t really add any elements with dimension to this page, as I am putting together an album and I would like everything to sit flat in the page protectors, but a page like this could easily be further embellished with whatever you have if that’s what you want to do. I think the die cut background adds interest to the page, and you could use any dies you wanted to create a pattern.

If you feel like joining in this week, we’d love to see what you create, just click the link below to visit our facebook page where you can upload a photo.

Next up tonight is The lovely Kelly!

  1. Aww, what cuties, and what a fabulous page you’ve created to feature them! What a great idea to add the die cuts to copy paper so that you can play around with the layout. I must remember that trick!

  2. This is so gorgeous, Shannon. I hope you share more of your scrapbook pages. I can understand you not wanting to “waste” any of that DSP as it is divine. I love your patchwork background. the colours and the way you’ve pieced it together – that’s a great tip for how to do that. What did Lachie have to say about this one?? 🙂 Siobhan.

  3. Love the way you picked the same card as Michelle and took it along a different path!!! Your page is gorgeous, as are your two young men. The shapes and colours look so good in the background.
