CTC232 – Artistic Impressions

Hello and welcome to the very first CTC blog hop for the new catalogue! So exciting to have you join us tonight, you are going to be blown away by all the lovely new goodies in tonight’s hop. We are changing the challenge up slightly this time around, each week we will still be CASEing the Catty, but instead of just CASEing a section, each week will be a little different. It’s going to be exciting so be sure to swing by each week.

This week we are looking at the section titles ‘Artistic Impressions’ – pages 106 – 159 of the new catalogue. This ‘section’ covers multiple bundles and suites and there will be something in there to appeal to everyone!

The card I am CASEing tonight is on page 117, and the catalogue version features a carry over stamp set called Swirly Frames. Combining the stamp with circle dies, a window border has been created to really spotlight the centre image. I thought this was really clever.

To create my frame, I used the stitched nested label dies. I first cut out the largest stitched hexagon, and then cut the window out using a hexagon that was a couple of sizes smaller. I did have to use some partial die cutting to get it just right, but I think it was worth it.

The bird image is from the brand new Free as a Bird stamp set, this set is actually bundled with the hexagon dies so if you buy them together you save 10%.

The embellishments and background stamps are from the May Paper Pumpkin kit which I know a lot of you bought. If you didn’t, I’m afraid you have missed out this time (subscribe to my newsletter so that doesn’t happen again!). But if you did, I thought it might be nice to see ways you can continue to get value from your products even once you have used up all your kit. I stamped the images in Pretty Peacock ink, and then used an aquatinter to lightly go over the stamped image. I fussy cut them out and then layered them on.

Lachie’s Critique

Lachie is my five year old son, he loves to craft with me, and also loves to give me his honest opinions. Too bad this week he wasn’t a fan of the main feature of the card – hahahah!

So what do you think – will you join us this week and share with us your project?

Next up tonight is the lovely Peta, you are going to love what she has to share with us.

  2. Love those PP stamps – I’m going to be getting lots more use out of them as well. This card is so beautiful. The rectangular frame is so clever, definitely worth the fiddling to achieve it. Lachie’s critique is hilarious again. I’m guessing in a house of boys you need your dose of pink where you can get it!! 🙂 Siobhan.
