Kelly’s Stamping Friends Birthday Blog Hop

Hello everyone, and welcome to a very special blog hop this evening. I have joined up with a lovely bunch of crafty friends to celebrate Kelly’s Birthday! Grab a coffee and a slice of birthday cake and enjoy all the birthday themed projects we are sharing.

My project this evening is also a bit of a sneak peak into some of the new products that will be available to purchase starting June 4th. To say this new catalogue is amazing would be an understatement – it’s going to be a big year. But back to Kelly’s birthday and the card I have made for her.

In total I have used 4 new products tonight, and as I sit down to write this blog post I have realised that the products come from 3 different suites in the new catalogue. That just goes to show how much effort Stampin’ Up! go to in order to give us a catalogue full of coordinating products.

The background paper I have used come from the Bird Ballad suite. This DSP pack is a gorgeous combination of birds, florals and basic patterns, resulting in so many options for use. On top of this paper I have added a layer of crumb cake card stock and also some Petal Pink Organdy ribbon from the brand new Perennial Essence suite.

Also from the Perennial Essence suite is the Petal Pink vellum that I have stamped the sentiment on as well as the stitched shape I have used in my floral cluster.

The star of the card is the gorgeous (and huge) magnolia flower from the new Good Morning Magnolia stamp set. I heat embossed the large flower (in white) onto crumb cake card stock, and then used white craft ink to colour it in. Once this was dry I used an aqua painter to add colour over the white, using Old Olive for the leaves and the new In-Colour Rococo Rose for the petals. Once all this was completely dry, I went over with wink of stella to make it really sparkle.

To finish with I added a few extra sprigs cut from the Well Written dies. To match the colour I coloured a scrap of card in the same way described above (white ink and then colour) and then cut the sprigs.

I’ve used another fussy cut magnolia and some more DSP to decorate the envelope. Decorating envelopes is such a nice touch. Can you imagine getting a glimpse of something beautiful in amongst those bills and election junk mail – your recipient is smiling before they even open the card!

I hope you enjoy all the projects being shared tonight, and I especially hope Kelly has an awesome birthday!

Next up tonight is the lovely Tina
