Myths & Magic CAS Card

The Myths and Magic suite is a so much fun to design with. So far I have mostly used it for children’s cards, but with a bit of imagination you could definitely use this set for a range of ages and occasions.

Today’s card is inspired by two different CAS (clean and simple) design challenges. CAS Colours and Sketches #255 is all about colour this week, combining colours that I wouldn’t normally use, and the CASology challenge for Week 283 has a cue card with word ‘Glimmer’.

At first I was stumped at what I could use the colours for, I was at a bit of a loss because since I don’t actually have a Wisteria Wonder or Perfect Plum ink pad, the stamp would either need to be coloured after stamping, or be one that could easily be coloured with a marker and then stamped. I finally settled on the unicorn stamp from the Magical Day Stamp set, part of the Myths and Magic suite. For a colour challenge you are allowed to use neutral colours in addition to the challenge colours, so I decided I would incorporate the dazzling diamond glimmer paper. I’m hoping that the ‘white-ish’ colour of this paper counts as a neutral….

The card uses a soft sky base, with a mat in both Wisteria Wonder and Glimmer paper. The unicorn is stamped in Basic Black Archival ink and coloured using Stampin’ Write markers. I added a cheeky glimmer heart on the unicorns backside, I thought it looked cute.

I coloured the sentiment stamp using Stampin’ Write markers, starting with Wisteria Wonder at the top and Perfect Plum on the bottom to achieve an ombre effect. When using markers to colour the stamp, it’s best to use the side of the brush nib, rather than the tip of the nib itself. You can take your time to colour it, and just prior to stamping you can huff on the stamp (breathe on it) and this will moisten any ink that has dried a bit.

All the materials I used for this project are shown below, if you live in Australia and would like to purchase any supplies just click on the image to take your directly to my shop.
