Stitched Stockings

I recently picked up a bargain stamp set with matching punch on a Facebook page, and it arrived in the mail yesterday. It also coincided with the Addicted to Stamps and More Anything Goes Challenge Week. These challenges are great fun, and also expose you to so many creative people and their designs. You should check out the other entries.

The Stitched Stockings stamp set (from Stampin’ Up! – now retired) has a choice of 5 different stockings. To make it even easier there is a coordinating punch (also retired). My first thoughts for using this set was for a christmas card, but I have also seen it used for a new baby card (think small socks), or a ‘get well’ card for someone with a broken leg.

I went with my first choice and turned it into a christmas card.

The staircase is made from strips of card stock, and the stockings are stamped in Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive. The patterned paper is from the Warmth and Cheer paper stack from Stampin’ Up! (retired). The sentiment is from a very old Stampin’ Up set, I’m not sure of its name – I think it is called Celebrate Everyday but I’m not sure. The card base is Cherry Cobbler.

I used a bit of wink of stella on the top and toes of the stockings, unfortunately it made the ink run a little bit, never mind – I’ll know to wait longer next time.

What do you think of the stitched stockings? Cute? Or not really your thing?
